Over the past few days it's become increasingly common knowledge that Jamendo, the biggest and baddest player within the free music community, has become a bit financially unstuck. Jobs have been lost, 15 at the time of writing and apparently the end of February is the projected deadline for any rescue plan or merger, so just under a couple of months for something/someone to emerge and save the day. None of which makes for particularly cheerful reading I admit but there has been some community reaction to what's happening and all hope isn't lost quite yet. Already there are questions to be asked though, not just about how the sinking of this particular Titanic might be avoided but also about how it came to be sailing towards that iceberg of bankruptcy in the first place.
